SPCA Waihi Branch
On May 07 2014 the Waihi branch of the RNZSPCA was amalgamated into the Tauranga branch. This means that the Tauranga SPCA now manages and cares for the animals within the Waihi area, alongside the amazing volunteers that help at the Waihi shelter and the Waihi op shop.
Waihi SPCA Statistics (2015)
- 66 adoptions
- 44 welfare complaints
- 90 animals into SPCA care
- 1.5% dogs, 7.5% puppies, 33% cats and 58% kittens
The Waihi SPCA is also a community-based charity, which receives no government funding. It depends heavily on donations from the public and fundraising to support its services.
Donations made to the Waihi SPCA will assist the operation of the local animal shelter, support the work of the inspectorate, provide community education on animal welfare issues and help the SPCA to bring about improvements in animal welfare education.
Personal and community support is vital to the success of the capital fundraising drive for our SPCA. We ask you to consider supporting us and share in our investment to assure continued support for the many animals that come under our care.

Waihi SPCA Volunteers
We have a wonderful group of volunteers who are dedicated and passionate about the shelter, the animals and the time they give. Many of our volunteers continue to return year after year. Our volunteers are always willing to help with anything asked of them, going above and beyond their duties. Volunteers are very hard to come by in a small town so the ones we have are as precious as the gold found in Waihi.
If you live in or around the Waihi area and would like to volunteer for the SPCA, please give us a call.
